The option description:

Switching-on of this mode (named Enhanced Halt State or C1E) for the modern processors allows to lower power consumption in an idle time mode (at the expense of switch-off of some not used parts of the processor, a supply and frequency voltage reduction). Automatically to define and, whenever possible, to involve this function install value [Auto] (recommended value). If for any reasons you do not want to use a mode of the under power consumption of the processor, select value [Disabled].

For the first time this mechanism appeared in audit E0 of kernel Prescott, simultaneously with technology Thermal Monitor 2.
