CPU Hyper-Threading

Option name:

CPU Hyper-Threading

Possible values of an option:

[Enabled], [Disabled]

The option description:

The given option includes the virtual multithreading (Hyper-Threading) for appropriate processors of Intel. For normal operation of this technology it is necessary, that it supported a motherboard chipset (however if the chipset is not compatible with Hyper-Threading given function it will not be simple in BIOS Setup), the processor, and also an operating system. If first two conditions are fulfilled (i.e. the chipset and the processor support this technology) for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista, "knowing" about Hyper-Threading, it is recommended to involve the virtual multithreading (to install value [Enabled]), and for earlier operating systems — to disconnect ([Disabled]).

To include or ungear Hyper-Threading it is necessary before operating system setting since different variants of a kernel of an operating system in this case are used.

Windows 2000 "understands" Hyper-Threading in some limited scope. If by operation under control of this operating system some programs begin «freez», disconnect Hyper-Threading in BIOS Setup.

Other options identical to destination:

Hyper-Threading Function

Hyper-Threading Technology
