DC000-DFFFF Shadow

Option name:

DC000-DFFFF Shadow

Possible values of an option:

[Enabled], [Disabled]

The option description:

The option is responsible for shadowing of area of storage with DC000 addresses — DFFFF.

Memory addresses are presented in a hexadecimal type.

By operation with the out-of-date versions of operating systems using in operation BIOS of the computer and expansion cards, shadowing of separate areas of storage is capable to affect the general high-speed performance positively. For example, if on your computer the high speed SCSI-controler is installed, copying of its contents BIOS in a random access memory (this operation and is called as shadowing) noticeably increases speed of operation with it. In the documentation on an expansion card it is necessary to clarify, to what addresses is it BIOS, and to include ([Enabled]) shadowing for this area. It is not necessary to include only shadowing for the auxiliary controlers which are not used for connection of high speed devices is does not give any result. The interface cards for some out-of-date models of scanners can be an example of such controlers.

For the modern operating systems to use shadowing it is not necessary — they do not use BIOS expansion cards during the operation. So in this case install value [Disabled].
