The option description:
At usage APM the option defines, passage in what of power savings modes should disconnect a hard disk. It is recommended to refuse this possibility ([Disabled]), laying control of hard disk switch-off to an operating system.
Basically, at idle time it is better to refuse hard disk shut-down generally since it reduces a resource of the given device. But, for the sake of justice, it is necessary to note that the modern hard disks are projected already counting on power saving up modes, and, as consequence, they are not so sensitive to switch-off at idle time.
