Option name:
IDE RAID Device
Possible values of an option:
[Enabled], [Disabled]
The option description:
The given option allows to involve ([Enabled]) or to disconnect ([Disabled]) additional IDE the RAID-controler integrated on the motherboard. The option does not affect the standard IDE/SATA-controler (or, for older models, simply IDE-controler) a chipset.
To connect hard disks and other devices to the additional controler it is necessary in the event that the standard controler of a chipset does not support the demanded interface (we tell, it is necessary to connect an IDE-drive of optical disks, and the chipset controler allows to use only SATA-devices), or does not provide necessary functions (for example, you want to unite hard disks in a RAID, but this functional misses in chipset the controler). In remaining cases all available drives are better for connecting to the standard IDE/SATA-controler of a chipset, and additional — to disconnect. It simplifies operating system setting, plus, releases resources occupied with the controler, making their accessible to other devices.
